The double-end four-wheel cars 736-745 were built in 1947, with Maley & Taunton swing-link trucks, MV 115 45-hp motors, English Electric K33 controllers and “hilly route” braking systems. They were traditional in layout with full saloon bulkheads. As driver operated doors required for one-man operation, didn’t fit in their narrow entrances, about 1987 the bodies were replaced by reconditioned bodies from withdrawn Standard cars.

736, 739 and 740 became single-ended and were renumbered to 761-763, the others retained their numbers (737, 738, 741-745) and became basically equal to the existing series 613-617 and 701-735. The 1947 body of 741 was set aside and was re-trucked and restored in 1993-4 for the museum.
